Most entrepreneurs dream about growing their business.
But what many don’t expect is the operational chaos that often comes with growth.
As your business expands, communication gaps appear. Customer experience can suffer. Team members become overwhelmed. And suddenly, the systems that worked when you were smaller no longer support where your business is headed.
That’s exactly why I invited operations and outsourcing expert Penny Camille Lat onto the Podcast Profits Unleashed podcast.
Pen has over 15 years of experience helping businesses build scalable systems, outsourced teams, and operational structures that support long-term growth without sacrificing quality or human connection.
One of the most important points Pen shared during our conversation was this: many businesses don’t actually have a growth problem. They have a systems problem.
That distinction matters.
Because growth alone doesn’t automatically create sustainability.
In fact, many entrepreneurs grow to a point where they become trapped inside their own business. They’re managing every detail, answering every question, and trying to oversee every process.
Pen described this perfectly when she talked about entrepreneurs becoming the “Chief Everything Officer.”
At first, that level of involvement may feel necessary. But eventually, it becomes exhausting.
This is where outsourcing and delegation become essential—not as a way to lose control, but as a way to create clarity and efficiency.
One misconception many business owners have is that outsourcing means handing everything off blindly and hoping for the best.
Pen explained that successful outsourcing is actually highly collaborative.
The key is communication.
Businesses need clear expectations, documented processes, strong feedback systems, and visibility into what’s happening behind the scenes. Without those elements, delegation becomes stressful. With them, it becomes transformational.
I particularly loved Pen’s perspective on feedback loops.
Instead of waiting for weekly meetings to address issues, her agency encourages immediate feedback and fast communication so adjustments can happen quickly. That level of responsiveness creates trust and improves quality over time.
Another major takeaway from this episode was the difference between growth and scalability.
A growing business may still rely heavily on the founder for every decision and task.
A scalable business, however, allows the founder to step back and focus on leadership, vision, and strategy while systems and teams handle the day-to-day operations.
That shift doesn’t happen overnight.
It requires intentional systems, operational clarity, and often the willingness to ask for help.
We also discussed how podcasting itself plays a powerful role in business growth.
Pen shared that podcasting has helped her improve communication skills while also building thought leadership and trust with potential clients around the world.
That point is incredibly important.
People don’t just buy services anymore. They buy trust. They buy confidence. They buy into how you think.
Podcasting gives entrepreneurs a way to communicate ideas, values, and expertise at scale.
And if you’re a coach, consultant, or service provider, that visibility can become a major growth driver for your business.
At the end of the day, sustainable growth is not about doing more yourself.
It’s about creating systems, processes, and support structures that allow your business to grow without burning you out in the process.
If your business feels heavier as it grows, this episode will help you rethink what scaling should actually look like.
